Numeros en ingles del 1 al 1000: como escribirlos y pronunciarlos

Los numeros en ingles son de los primeros que aprendemos, pero hay detalles de pronunciacion y uso que nadie te explica bien. Como decir tu numero de telefono, como leer un precio, como pronunciar el 1300 sin sonar raro... estos son los detalles que marcan la diferencia cuando hablamos en contextos laborales o internacionales.

Numeros del 1 al 20

Los primeros 20 hay que memorizarlos porque no siguen una regla completamente sistematica:

El acento en 13-19 cae en la ultima silaba: "thirTEEN", "fourTEEN". Esto es clave para distinguirlos de 30, 40, etc.

Decenas del 20 al 100

Ojo: forty no lleva "u" (no es "fourty"). Es uno de los errores de escritura mas comunes.

Numeros compuestos del 21 al 99

Se forman con la decena + guion + unidad:

• 21: twenty-one
• 35: thirty-five
• 48: forty-eight
• 67: sixty-seven
• 99: ninety-nine

No se dice "twenty and one" ni "one and twenty". Siempre decena primero, luego unidad, con guion en la escritura.

Del 100 al 1000

En ingles americano se puede omitir el "and": "one hundred fifty" en vez de "one hundred and fifty". En ingles britanico siempre se usa el "and".

Numeros ordinales: 1ro, 2do, 3ro...

Los ordinales se usan para fechas, rankings, pisos de edificios y posiciones.

A partir del 4to, la regla es agregar -th. Las excepciones son: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, y algunos irregulares como fifth, eighth, ninth, twelfth.

Como decir numeros en distintos contextos

Numeros de telefono

En ingles, los numeros de telefono se dicen digito por digito:

• +1 (555) 234-7890 se lee: "plus one, five five five, two three four, seven eight nine zero"
• El 0 se pronuncia "oh" (no "zero") en numeros de telefono en ingles informal americano.

Precios y dinero

• $14.99: "fourteen ninety-nine" o "fourteen dollars and ninety-nine cents"
• $1,500: "fifteen hundred" o "one thousand five hundred"
• $2,350,000: "two million, three hundred fifty thousand dollars"

En inglés, el separador de miles es la coma y el decimal es el punto: 1,500.75 (no al reves como en espanol).

Porcentajes

• 25%: "twenty-five percent"
• 0.5%: "point five percent" o "half a percent"
• 100%: "one hundred percent" - tambien se usa para decir "totalmente de acuerdo"

Fechas

• April 15th: "April fifteenth"
• January 1st: "January first"
• En formato escrito americano: 4/15/2026 (mes/dia/ano). En britanico: 15/4/2026 (dia/mes/ano).

En el contexto laboral: numeros que mas vas a usar

Reportar metricas

"We hit 125% of our quarterly target." "Revenue is up 32% year-over-year." "We have 1,200 active users this month."

Discutir presupuestos

"The budget is $50,000 for Q3." "We need to cut costs by 15%." "The invoice is for $3,750."

Hablar de fechas de entrega

"The deadline is the 31st." "We're targeting Q2 - so by June 30th."

Decir tu extension o numero de sala

"My extension is 4-2-7 (four two seven)." "Join us in room 312 (three twelve)."

Truco para pronunciar los grandes numeros

Para numeros como 1,300, los americanos suelen decir "thirteen hundred" en vez de "one thousand three hundred". Esta forma es comun para anos, cantidades de dinero y medidas:

• 1,400: "fourteen hundred"
• 1,800: "eighteen hundred"
• 1,999: "nineteen ninety-nine" (como el ano)
